Weather through the year

Monthly averages from 2016–2025, from Open-Meteo historical weather data (ERA5 reanalysis). Rain totals from weather models can run high in mountain cities, so treat them as a guide to the wet and dry seasons.
Where to live
Gràcia
Village feel, small plazas and independent shops, close to the center. Popular with creatives and long-stay nomads.
Eixample
Central and well connected, with wide streets and modernist buildings. Easy for a first year in the city.
Poblenou
The 22@ tech district near the beach, with coworking spaces and converted lofts.
Sant Gervasi
Quieter and greener uptown, close to several international schools. A favorite with families.
Our plans match neighborhoods to how you work, your budget and who's moving with you.
Getting around
An extensive metro, buses, trams and the Bicing bike-share. The flat grid of the Eixample is easy on foot. Few residents need a car.
Language and English
Common in tourism, tech and international offices. Day-to-day life runs in Spanish and Catalan, and Spanish goes a long way.
Healthcare
Spain's public health system is strong, but digital nomad visa holders generally need private health insurance, and many keep it for English-speaking care and shorter waits.
Safety
Check the US State Department's current advisory for Spain before you go. It changes, so we link to it rather than copy it. Like any big city, Barcelona has areas that are safer than others, and your plan flags the ones to know about.
Your first week in Barcelona
Land with people, not just a lease.
With a Complete or Household plan, you join everyone moving to Barcelona the same month in a group chat before you fly, then meet in person during your first week.
