Weather through the year

Monthly averages from 2016–2025, from Open-Meteo historical weather data (ERA5 reanalysis). Rain totals from weather models can run high in mountain cities, so treat them as a guide to the wet and dry seasons.
Where to live
Sukhumvit (Thong Lo, Ekkamai, Phrom Phong)
Expat central, with condos, restaurants and BTS stations. The easiest landing.
Ari
A café-filled, more local area on the BTS line. Cheaper than Sukhumvit.
Sathorn and Silom
The business district, with high-rise condos and parks, including Lumphini.
Riverside
Chao Phraya views and hotels. Quieter, but farther from the BTS.
Our plans match neighborhoods to how you work, your budget and who's moving with you.
Getting around
The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway cover the central areas, with river boats and ride-hailing apps filling the gaps. Traffic is notorious, so live near a station.
Language and English
Common in Sukhumvit, hotels and hospitals, much less so elsewhere. A few Thai phrases go a long way.
Healthcare
Bangkok is a medical-tourism hub with internationally accredited private hospitals. Most foreign residents buy private or international insurance.
Safety
Check the US State Department's current advisory for Thailand before you go. It changes, so we link to it rather than copy it. Like any big city, Bangkok has areas that are safer than others, and your plan flags the ones to know about.
Your first week in Bangkok
Land with people, not just a lease.
With a Complete or Household plan, you join everyone moving to Bangkok the same month in a group chat before you fly, then meet in person during your first week.
